I’m struggling with weight loss , I loose a lot and then gain it back and this some , my health is struggling ,I’m 61 , thank you! I feel alone so having you might help
Hi Cathy. I am so happy to be on this journey with you. We are experiencing the same thing with fluctuations. It is discouraging but your videos help to keep me positive. Thank you!❤
When I was young, only two diet methods worked for me - intermittent fasting or Atkins. Either/or. I never tried intermittent fasting with Atkins. These days, my husband and I do meat and a vegetable for most dinners. Eggs for breakfast. My husband eats chicken for lunch and I usually do leftover meat or cheese and chicken salad (without bread). No calorie counting because we count carbs instead. I'm 69 with normal bloodwork and bp, no medication. My husband's cholesterol is that of a healthy 20 year old man! His blood pressure is 120/70. I discovered last year that I was consuming only 1/4-1/3 of the protein I need to be healthy, which explains why my hair fell out when I was 60. I was consuming about 35 to 40 grams per day and I need at least 120! After a year of increasing my protein, my hair is growing back. It's almost back to what it was in 2018, before my biggest fallout. My eyesight is improving. You need twice as much protein per pound of body weight by the time you reach 65 as you needed when you were young because your digestion becomes less efficient. Anyway, I don't stress at all about my diet because it's very simple. None of this plate dividing, etc. Meat, eggs, cheese, butter, cream, and some milk and vegetables.
I just wanted to let you know that I made your chick pea salad! Even though I forgot to get cucumber and had to substitute celery, it was very good! I especially like your dressing because I've been looking for home-made recipes; and although I have a hard time with vinegary tastes, the fact that you add honey seems to help. Also love your 4PM Cheese/Apple/Nut snack! I have been SERIOUSLY watching my food intake for the past year, slowly removing my "favorite"- but -bad-for-me foods like mayo, soda, pasta and all things white. I was surprised you recommend fruit at all, because I thought it was just carbs and verboten for weight loss. That said, I have been worried about the nutrients I'm missing by cutting fruit out altogether... Note I am 78, and after losing 25 lbs in the past TWO years, have only about 20 pounds to go to get to my ideal weight. So keep up your journey and post more recipes!
A realistic maintenance plan is one of the most overlooked (and important) factors in successful weight-loss. I'm glad you touched on that topic and congratulations on your continued success.
I'm glad you do these videos... they are encouraging and good reminders to stay on track. Even if you leave weight loss aside, this is about healthy living and eating and everyone needs to do this. Congratulations on your success, it's inspiring!
Sugar and sweets is definitely my weakness for sure. I don’t need to even bring them in the house. Thanks for sharing, and helping us who are on this journey with you.❤
I made your chickpea salad earlier this week. I love it. My husband also loves it. I added some sliced black olives because we both like olives. My husband took some to work for lunch and , when he came home, he said that the salad was great and said that we should have it in our constant rotation. I love having something ready to go. I just put some in a bowl and have a healthy meal. Thank you for sharing!
For me it has helped to actually measure my portions. I learned that while I thought I was doing well by just “eyeballing” it I was actually over eating quite a bit! I have also started working out with weights.
Thanks for the video, I have weight issues as well. I go up and down all the time, I am trying to get off the yo-yo dieting. The tips you gave are useful and I enjoy your recipes when you put them out. Have a great day 😊
Loved your idea about making up a few days worth of fruit salad from another video. I never think to pick up a piece of fruit unless it’s bite sized like grapes. Time to make another one 😄 👍🏽
I've definitely made all of those mistakes. I bought diet shakes and diet bars that are highly processed and did nothing to help and probably made things worse. I do need to check out your chickpea salad recipe. I have a big bin of dried beans and need to eat more of them. You're doing great and thank you for your inspiring videos.
I'm the same age as Cathy and a year ago I noticed that my muscle mass had decreased pretty drastically - more than likely due to the calorie deficit I was working with. Hey, I did lose a lot of the weight I wanted to - but I think it "cost" me too much. What's worked just incredibly well for me since then: eating whole foods I cook myself; cutting sugar and starchy foods; increasing protein; and starting a resistance training program. I also decreased my calorie deficit to 150/200 calories max. I've gained 2lb lean muscle, but decreased my body fat 4% - including 1.5 inches of belly fat.
@@stylewithcathyover50 Thanks Cathy! I really appreciate these videos that disprove the narrative that it's impossible for women to lose weight or belly fat after a certain age. I think this de-motivates us and makes people feel hopeless. You're proving everyday that it's not hopeless - nor is it a miserable process. We can lose weight, we can regain our strength and we can still enjoy our meals! Cheers Cathy!

When was working, I never had a problem with drinking lots of water because we had a nice refrigerated water cooler next to my office. Since I've retired, I often would forget to drink during the day. I succumbed to the Stanley cup craze and bought a 40 oz. tumbler that I now take everywhere! I load it up with ice cubes when it gets empty and fill it with water. I drink one of these every day, and I feel less tired and hungry during the day. As a bonus, I can sneak a little rose onto the beach with it because no one knows what you're drinking when you walk around with a big Stanley cup!

There’s something magical in the combination of lean protein + starch + veggies but unfortunately the way they introduced the “perfect plate” 1/4 protein 1/4 starch 1/2 veggies the proportions are a bit wrong. That’s why people end up binge eating. If you divide your protein per 3 meals then the rest of your plate you change proportions of veggies / starch to 1/2 and 1/2 from what’s left and add a low fat (sugar based) sauce you will have Zero cravings and can play around with portion sizes to have your weight loss to your dream goal. Oh and no fruit no snacks, sorry. The best and perfect to keep cravings away. Similar effect to carnivore diet zero cravings. Try it. Guaranteed. 😉
All great points. I’ve made and enjoyed your chickpea salad - it’s has become a staple around here! It’s funny, Diet Coke is our go-to drink when we eat out. I don’t drink it any other time but I enjoy the bubbles and it’s enough to have it occasionally (we do drink alcohol but not often). If I can control my sugar intake the rest seems easy. Sugar triggers something in me that sets off wild cravings, so I avoid as much as possible. With balanced eating my cravings have subsided. Have a great weekend 😊

1/4 protein 1/4 starch 1/2 veggies the proportions are a bit wrong. Try it. Guaranteed. 😉
LOVE these videos!!!! 💕
Glad you like them!
A continuous glucose monitor would be eye-opening about what is happening with your diet.
I feel good about my plan and it works for me.
Thanks, you too! 😊
Sorry for not realizing 😲 you are there to help the"BBW"!!! Champion 🏆 on!!? Oh by the way are you a doctor 💊💊💊????😢.
